Milwaukee Officer Killed in Rollover Crash

Milwaukee Police Officer Charles Irvine Jr. and his partner were in pursuit of a reckless driver when the wreck occurred Thursday evening.

A Milwaukee police officer was killed and his partner was seriously injured in a rollover crash during a pursuit Thursday evening.

Officer Charles Irvine Jr. and his partner were chasing a reckless driver when the wreck occurred near North 76th Street and West Silver Spring Drive shortly after 5 p.m., according to a news release.

The 23-year-old officer and his partner were transported to Froedtert Hospital for treatment. Irvine was pronounced dead despite efforts to save his life. His partner was seriously injured in the crash and was listed in stable condition.

The crash is currently under investigation.

Irvine, who was assigned to District Four, began his service with the Milwaukee Police Department at the age of 19 before he became police officer at the age of 21.

Funeral arrangements are pending.
