Asher Reserve Police Officer Dewayne Condit died in a fiery crash Tuesday evening while driving to mandatory training in Shawnee.

An Asher, Oklahoma reserve police officer died in a fiery crash Tuesday evening while driving to mandatory training in Shawnee.

Officer Dewayne Condit was traveling northbound on U.S. Highway 177 in Pottawatomie County when his vehicle ran off the roadway to the right and crashed into a concrete culvert around 5:30 p.m.

Troopers said that the vehicle caught fire after the crash and the 23-year-old officer was pronounced dead at the scene.

Condit is survived by his young child and parents.

Funeral arrangements are pending.
